Our Festivals

The Wheel of the Year

Our Tradition celebrates the familiar eight Festivals of the Wheel of the Year, or Sabbats, which are solar in nature, in honor of the God and Goddess. The Sabbats are the milestones of the year, and are times of worship which reflect the ever-changing relationship and ever returning nature of the Gods. These are the ancient festivals of animal husbandry and fertility, which mark the increase and decrease of the solar year.

Alban Arthan - The Winter Solstice - The Festival of the Sun
We celebrate the end of the fallow time of the year and the beginning of the new year, as the Goddess brings forth the newborn Sun/Son. Our covensteads are decorated with symbols of the season such as pine boughs, holly and mistletoe. The Yule Log is lit.

Oimelc - Candlemas - The Festival of Flame
We prepare lights so that the Goddess may find her way back to us from the darkness of winter.

Alban Eilir - The Spring Equinox - The Festival of the Lady
We welcome the return of the Goddess and bless her coming fertility.

Calan Mai - Beltane - The Festival of Fertility
As the summer begins, we dance to ensure fertility.

Alban Hefin - The Summer Solstice - The Festival of Midsummer
We celebrate the abundance of the greenwood, even as we recognize its inevitable decline.

Lammas - Lughnasadh - The Festival of Crops
We celebrate and give thanks in preparation of the first harvest.

Alban Elfed - The Fall Equinox - The Festival of the Harvest
We welcome the return of the God and have gathered in the gifts of the harvest.

Calan Gaeav - Samhain - The Festival of the Dead
As the winter begins, we welcome the Mighty Dead, and celebrate the end of the year.

The Lunar Festivals

We celebrate the lunar festivals, or Esbats in honor of the Goddess. The Esbats are times of teaching of lore, magick, and raising of power. Unlike some branches of the Witch Cult, we celebrate the Esbats at waxing, full, waning and dark moons, as only through all aspects may we begin to know Her.

Other Festivals

We celebrate, honor and commemorate various stages of life among our kin, with rituals for marriage (handfasting), fertility and birth, blessing of a child (saining), and death. Through these, and the Sabbats and Esbats, we ever recognize our bond with all nature and the Wheel of the Year, which is the cycle of life.
